I call this post: 18 UNITS! YATTA! [BGmusic: Blue Skies by Ella Fitzgerald]

Nicked this from Ronald of The Wind-Up Tool Chronicle. When I saw the survey, I knew I had to do it.

Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character?

Oh yes. The biggest crush I had was on Gilbert Blythe of the Anne of Green Gables books. He even made it to the top of my Top 5 Fictional Guys List [click here to check out the list - for some strange reason that I don't remember, the comments on the post aren't visible anymore, which is sad, but oh well].

The last books you bought are...

I'm ashamed to say that I don't remember. Nowadays I just borrow books from friends.

Five books you would take to a deserted island:

  • Kokology by Tadahiko Nagao & Isamu Saito [to entertain myself]
  • Any sudoku/logic book [again, to entertain myself]
  • Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Gael Marquez [because I've always wanted to read it but never got around to doing so]
  • Captain Corelli's Mandolin by Louis de Berniéres [because it's lovely, and it's the kind of book I can read over and over again]
  • The Bible [because I need it/to keep me sane]

Three books that would have made more of a difference in life had I read them years earlier:
  • It's Not About Me by Max Lucado
  • Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
  • The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold [even though I read it like, two months after it was published. She should have written it earlier. ]
Five books I borrowed and didn't want to return anymore:
  • A Semester in the Life of a Teenage Dirtbag by Gordon Korman. No, it's not a deep book, no profound life insights, etc. In fact, it's published by Point . This is my guilty pleasure book. And no, I wasn't the one who borrowed it. My sister borrowed it back in grade school and probably forgot about it. I read it when I was fourteen and while I was reading it, I cried from laughing so hard. So yeah, enjoy siya.
  • Er... nothing else. Don't remember. Haha. Maybe the Neil Gaiman books Beau just lent me. Bwa. Ha. Ha.
Three books I want to like more:
  • Anything by Charles Dickens. *rolls eyes* I'm sorry, I just can't, no matter how hard I try, I always give up by the third chapter.
  • Any prescribed economics text book.
  • The Bible. Yeah, it's a hard read. And minsan nakakatamad talaga. Pero it gets easier and easier as I get more and more into it. Just like walking, baby steps first, running later. [I actually do like reading it, but I would LOVE to like it even more.]
Three books I pretended to have read:

I don't remember pretending to have read anything. Er. Maybe prescribed readings. Haha.

Three books I am happy I bought last year:
  • It's Not About Me by Max Lucado
  • Nebula Awards Showcase 2001 edited by Silver Silverberg [got it for super cheap, super sulit ]
  • Principles of Economics by Gregory Mankiw [we weren't actually required to buy it, but I bought it anyway, and it was actually fun to read - totally unexpected from an economics textbook]
Three books I wish I had written:
  • Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank [but not really, for obvious reasons - i.e. the Holocaust, anyone?]
  • The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
  • Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes
What are you currently reading?

Haha. Andaming nakapila.
  • The Godmakers by Frank Herbert
  • The Sandman: The Doll's House by Neil Gaiman [THANK YOU BEAU!]
  • The Sandman: Season of Mists by Neil Gaiman [THANK YOU BEAU!]
  • The Sandman: Fables & Reflections by Neil Gaiman [THANK YOU BEAU!]
  • The Sandman: Brief Lives by Neil Gaiman [THANK YOU BEAU!]
  • Harlequin Valentine by Neil Gaiman [THANK YOU BEAU!]
  • Death by Neil Gaiman [THANK YOU BEAU!]
Yehey. Tapos na. Natuwa naman ako.

Updates!

To those of you who commented on the new smilies I'm using, they're from multiply. I cross-post from there.

Good news. Got all my subjects at last. *happy dance* Will post a review of all of them once I've attended all of them.

For some very strange reason, my internet connection isn't functioning as it should. It refuses to behave. The only thing that works properly is YM. Will hophophop your way when the connection finally speeds up.

I call this post: Yeouch. [BGmusic: Listening for the Weather by Bic Runga]

I injured my hand a couple of weeks ago [forgot how, I just remember the pain], and I thought it had healed, but awhile ago when I was moving my stuff out the dorm, hauling boxes around my room by my lonesome, the injury was awakened and now it hurts whenever I bend my hand like thi- OW. See?

Today has been tiring. It's a good thing that there weren't a lot of people around UP awhile ago because if I had run into anyone I knew at my state awhile ago, I would have died. Since I looked like a zombie already awhile, double dead na yun. Poor me.

See, I only had three hours of sleep last night, and the whole morning I was packing and revising my short story for CW110 [finished it, and I'm not pleased with it because I rushed it]. Oh, and I didn't have breakfast.

Pero bumabawi na ako. I've been eating since I got here in ISOT [our new place, which we haven't really moved into yet]. It's nice to have a fridge to raid. You miss these kinds of things when you're dorming. *Sigh.* Haven't slept yet, though. I don't want to weird out my body clock just yet.

Allow me be a little random; I'm too sabog to focus on anything. I've been doing nothing for the past - what - five hours, just watching videos on Youtube... and look what I stumbled across.

Remember the Honeyz? Gosh, I used to love them. Anyway, the song's really great, pero nakakatawa lang kasi sobrang sablay talaga yung video. I gotta admit though, that girl in the blue tube top [name's Mariama I think, I'm not sure] is really, REALLY hot. I've got a girly cruuush. [Ew. Haha.]

Anyway, that's it. I apologize for the walang kwentang post and for not bloghopping. I will bloghop maybe this weekend. [I'll be in Baguio. Yihee.] Toodles.

I call this post: Bleerrrrghhh [BGmusic: Enchantment by Corinne Bailey Rae]

Because I'm so bored, I've been catching up on my webcomics. At the moment I'm reading Questionable Content.

Eerily familiar situation. That Steve is such an idiot.

I have come to realize that other girls like Prince Foamday as well. Which is expected because he's pretty cute [not gorgeous, but cute] - it'd be something else if no-one was already eying him.

I suddenly feel like a contestant on The Bachelor. :-| Daaaang.

I call this post: Home At the dorm on a Saturday [BGmusic: Without You by Bic Runga]

It's been a while since I've stayed at here on a weekend. I've forgotten how boring it is. I miss camping class. [sigh] Anyway, the good thing about dorming is that someone always has a DVD available for my viewing pleasure. Right now I'm in the middle of Hana Yori Dango, which isn't usually the kind of thing I watch but like I said, I'm bored. It's a fun show. Ooh, and I watched The Breakup for the first time last night. I suddenly have a thing for Vince Vaughn, which is weird, but understandable, because he reminds me of - someone [yak].

Summer's ending. I have nothing else to do now that I've finished the first draft for my CW110 class. My turn for workshop isn't until Tuesday, so until then I won't be doing much revising.

Anyway, something to talk about...

Oh yes, I think I talked about this already, but starting this June, my whole family will be based in Quezon City. My dad just retired/quit from the AFP; he's going to be facilitating a new program in ISOT [International School of Theology] now. So it's bye-bye Baguio, goodbye to Q1031 - the house I spent the majority of my life in, hello heat and smog for us. I hope I won't cry too much. When I get home next week [?] I'm not going to be doing a lot of stuff other than sorting out which of my things I want to keep and which I want to throw away. It's going to be really hard for me because I keep a lot of junk around just because of sentimental value. [For example, I have a bowl of pebbles I can't bring myself to throw away because of what they mean, even though I keep them under my bed because I can't bear looking at them.] And there's 19 years of junk in my room. [Sigh.]

I've always thought about what it would be like if I was deeply rooted in a place. I mean, I've moved enough times to be alienated from people my life once revolved around. I've gone to six schools before UP, and I've always been "the girl who moved to _____". It's happening again, so it looks like I'll always be that girl. Sometimes I can't help but feel jealous towards those people who have stayed in the same house since forever, or those people who have gone to the same school since kindergarten - those guys have roots. They have childhood friends they still talk to, they don't feel all awkward around their grade school classmates. My only constants are my family and God. I'm not saying they're not sufficient, it's just that - it's sad.

And the streets of Metro Manila have too many names for me. But I'll get used to that. Eventually. I know.

Hay buhay.

[PAHABOL]

To those who have asking about what happened to Prince Foamday [yes, that will be what I'll be calling him from now on]: To summarize, he doesn't see me. I won't go as far as to saying that he doesn't know I exist, but he doesn't see me. Anyway, I'm sure there will be many more posts about Prince Foamday. Abangan.

I call this post: Three. It's magic! [BGmusic: basketball bouncing on the court outside window]

[SHARING LANG]
  • The world may be coming to an end. Opened my friendster account, and guess who invited me as a contact? Guess who? MY MOTHER. Freaking heck, may friendster ang nanay ko. And that's not the end of it - may friendster din ang tatay ko, hindi lang marunong mag-invite. Kumusta naman yan. Feeling ko they're going to use it to spy on me. Hala. :-|
  • Remember my wish that camping class would never end? You probably don't because I didn't blog it. Haha. Anyway, it looks like I'll be joining UP Campers. Hehe. I love camping. Hindi na babalik ang natural na kulay ko. Yes.
[/SHARING LANG]

Foamday [see previous post] has come and gone.

And I'm still here.

Why?!?!

[Duh, hindi ka mermaid, you dweeb.]

To take my mind off of all this stupid mermaid business... I got tagged by Sheen, a friend from my camping class. Let's do this.

Each player of this game starts with 6 weird things about you. People who get tagged need to write a blog post of their own with 6 weird things, as well as state the rules clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave a comment that says you are tagged in their comments and tell them to read your blog.
  • When I'm really happy, I tend to bob my head a lot or sway from side to side with a really goofy smile on my face. Kahit na wala akong kasama. So ang weird talaga ng itsura. This happens a lot when I'm eating good food, kakakita lang ng crush, or kung maganda lang gising ko.
  • I have three coloring books and some crayons that I bring out whenever I feel down and I need something to do.
  • I'm allergic to so many things, things you'd think nobody would even be allergic to [e.g. lettuce, anyone?] to the usual [e.g. shrimps]. Most of the time I just ignore my allergies and eat the allergens... in moderation naman. [Trivia: Favorite vegetable ko pa tomato, tapos allergic ako sa tomatoes. Haha musta naman.]
  • My mother fell down a flight of stairs while she was pregnant with me [hindi ako sure kung 5 months or 7 months]. That's why I'm like this. :-|
  • I have a trademark dance step that I have shown to only a select few: The Chicken Dance. It rocks.
  • The best part of the movie-going experience for me is watching the trailers. Warning to those who plan on watching a movie with me and have not ever watched a movie with me before: I tend to squeal a lot during the trailers. It happens when I get excited. Pabigyan na ninyo, kasi tahimik talaga ako sa feature presentation.
I don't know who I'm going to tag. I don't know who would want to do the tag. Okay, from the top of my head: Pam, Pia, Joy, Kuya Gian, Belette, and Erik. GO!

Something really weird happened to me yesterday. I was being all emo and stupid, because of Foamday, and there was no-one at the dorm to talk to. [Only two of my friends stayed in Ilang-ilang this summer.] So I decided to take a walk alone, because I didn't want to go in my room and feel miserable about everything. [I wanted to go out to Sunken Garden and feel miserable about everything there - ha ha.]

Then when I was walking by the Law Building to get to Sunken, this man asks for the time. I'd place his age somewhere in his late thirties or early forties. Basta. Yun. So I gave him my time and turned around to leave, but then he started to make some small talk. So, being the polite person that I am, I turned around and humored him. Anyway, he went on about how boring the review class for the bar exam was, etc etc...

AND THEN HE ASKS FOR MY NUMBER.

[Yes, big BIG lie, but it was in self-preservation.]

Reaction niya sa reaction ko sa- ay basta: "Kahit na, kung gusto mo talagang ibigay ang number mo... ibigay mo na..."

Reaction ko sa blah blah blah: "Er. Sige." [This is where I really lose the plot. I don't know how I got from point A to B pero ayan. I just wanted to get away from this psycho.]

I rattled off my numbers. While I was doing it I was staring at the sky, praying for some kind of superhero to just whisk me away before I got to my last digit. The superhero did not come. Figures. The stupid thing is, ang binigay ko na number sa kaniya ang totoong number ko. I could have given him my dad's number instead [para mamatay na siya - haha - just kidding - or am I?], I could have given him a number I made up, pero ayan. Nakuha ng isang DOM ang cell phone number ko. [And my Prince didn't even bother to ask. T_T]

After that, I started walking to Sunken again. Naaasar talaga ako kasi nagmomoment nga ako tapos naharass pa ako ng isang DOM. Pangit pa kotse niya. Kung Benz yun or something, baka patulan ko pa [yes, I am kidding].

Then for no reason whatsoever I just started laughing. Kasi kahit na medyo nakakatakot, funny talaga. There I was, feeling like hell already, and this stupid man just made it worse - stuff like that makes me feel like I'm really alive, and reassures me that I'm not crazy, I'm not imagining all of this... churva, kasi I cannot dream up a DOM like that in a million years.

Yun lang. Kwinento ko lang ang attempt ko to have a drama moment yesterday afternoon. I ended up in the CCC tambayan, nagkwentuhan nalang kami ng isang kuya ko dun.

Hindi pa siya nagttext. I totally forgot his name. Actually, "forgot" is not the right word because I didn't make an attempt to remember his name in the first place. Basta. Girls, beware of the crossroads between Stat and Law. May tumatambay dun feeler.

I call this post: Cause I am so young now, I am so young, so young now [BGmusic: I Believe in a Thing Called Love by The Darkness]

It really doesn't matter if I never sleep. Or maybe it does. Anyway, I've cut two of my classes so I could catch up on much-needed rest, because I was cramming for an exam until 4am in the morning last night/awhile ago. Sad thing is, I couldn't sleep. I'm tired, but my body refuses to just lie down there and recharge. So here I am, posting even though I wasn't planning on posting until next week.

I don't have anything to talk about. For once... why don't I just blog about my day?

One of my many crushes said hi to me awhile ago. The millisecond we passed each other was such a struggle - it took all the strength I had to stop myself from squealing and doing a little victory dance in the middle of the sidewalk. Actually, I didn't completely succeed - there were definitely traces of a little dance in my walk awhile ago. And I was squishing up my face and smiling and laughing as I was walking, so just imagine the looks I got. Man, I'm such an embarrassment to girlkind. Tsk tsk.

It looks like I won't be going to my dorm's recognition night/formal dinner this Friday. I was looking forward to dressing up and looking like a real girl for a change. My brother's graduating on Sunday so I have to be there. It's not everyday when your "little" brother [quotation marks needed because he's taller than me, and he kinda looks older as well] graduates from high school. He's probably going to Ateneo. So it looks like I'm the only public school kid in my family. I went to a national high school, they went to private school. I'm in UP, they're Ateneans. Nagtitipid ata parents ko sa akin. Haha.

Hm. Didn't have lunch. Didn't have breakfast. [Cause it really doesn't matter if I don't eat.] Well, I did have cake. And dinner.

I've been on "invisible mode" since yesterday - meaning, hindi ako masyadong nagpapakita sa friends ko ngayon. Because of acads. After this week... pwede na... three more days. Yes.

Oh, I want to share this with you guys. Wala lang. This whole post is all "wala lang" anyway, so I might as well.

I call this post: Wahoo [BGmusic: Let Love In by the Goo Goo Dolls - how appropriate]

Silly me. I was burned out and wasted enough yesterday, and still I insisted on going to the fair. [Yes, UP fair na!] Excited ako masyado, because I wasn't able to go last year. Anyway, it was fun enough. [I will make kwento some other day. Or not. Read this na lang. May pictures pa.] I don't know if I'm going tonight or not. I want to go tonight, Thursday, and Friday, but... I'm not sure. I need to study. I missed my Econ102 class again awhile ago because (a) our water supply suddenly decided that it needed a break, and (b) by the time the water came back, I had fallen asleep again.

Malapit na ang Valentine's Day [as in bukas na, my gulay, how time flies]... Ah, Valentine's Day. You can just smell the twitterpation.

At dahil malapit na ang Vday, I will write about love. Ah, love. One of the most abused words in the English language, with its many variations:
  • i lab u.
  • I LAAAAAHVYUUU PIOLO/JERICHO/[INSERT STAR OF CHOICE HERE]!!!!
  • I luuuuurve hiyu.
  • and many many more.
It's a shame that we only have one word to tell people how we feel. If I'm not mistaken, the Eskimos have... fifteen words for love [? - don't take my word for that, I'm not sure]. I can think of two Tagalog words for love, but they have practically the same meaning.

Anyway, the whole point of my post is to show all of you how disappointing love can be. No, I'm not bitter or cynical or a spinster in the making [okay, maybe I am a little], I'm just saying it as it is.

LOVE [the friendship kind], and how it disappoints

They say that when lovers come and go, friends are the ones that stick when all is said and done. What they don't say is that this only applies to a select few. Who hasn't been ditched by their friend because he/she needed to cut his/her girlfriend's/boyfriend's toenails? Who hasn't cried because they weren't invited to so-and-so's birthday party, or weren't allowed into the "inner circle"? Who hasn't felt that cold stab of rejection when their once so-very-close friend suddenly started spending more time with his/her "other friends"? [I'm not bitter, I swear.]

Yes, a man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother [Pr. 18:24]. To those of you who are fortunate enough to find friends like this, congratulations. Try your best not to disappoint. Do not ditch. Do not make your friend feel unimportant. Do not lie to your friend. Love. Don't just say it, do it.

LOVE [aka twitterpation], and how it disappoints

Twitterpation [look it up/watch Bambi again, if you don't know what it means.]: He texts. Your stomach flips. The next day, he texts again. A little romance begins to blossom. There are many possible ending points [simplified, for convenience's sake]:
  1. He stops texting. You spend your nights feeling sorry for yourself, feeling ugly and unwanted because he didn't "gud am" you.
  2. He texts. Your stomach doesn't flip. You realize that it was just hormones, and nothing else. Tell him that you're just better off as friends. He could (a) totally disappear from your life, (b) actually become "just friends" with you, or (c) continue annoying you until you change your sim card.
  3. He turns out to be an ass/pathological flirt/Mariah Carey fan. The buzzer goes off. Game over.
  4. He's "wonderful". "Perfect", even. You live happily. For a while. Until you get bored of each other, and you realize that he's not so "wonderful" or "perfect" at all.
  5. He's fun to be with. Most of your conversations don't revolve around flirtation. And you live happily. Ever after? Not likely, but maybe. [Note: This is "not likely" not because I don't believe in happily ever after, but because I'm talking about twitterpation among students here, and Love in the Time of Calculus in typically not the kind of love that lasts, sadly.]

Anyway, what was my point? [Love disappoints. DUH.] Okay, so that's not entirely true. In fact, it's totally wrong. Yes, I have been misleading you for the past 10+ paragraphs. It is actually people who disappoint, regardless of whether or not they claim to love or not. Put your trust on me, and I will disappoint you sooner or later. I put my trust on you, knowing that one day, you will disappoint me. Why do we still continue to trust each other? The answer to that is... I don't know . [I have many many theories, though. So numerous and absurd are my philosophies on trust that I will not impose them on the blogworld. At least, not yet. Bwahahaha.]

But! Hephephep... There is a kind of love that hasn't disappointed me yet, and I believe will never ever disappoint me. It's the kind of love that lays down a perfect, untainted life for multitudes of filthy and rotten souls. It's unconditional, and does not rely on people to keep it alive. This kind of love, the most excellent way, never fails, always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres [1 Cor 13].

Now, I don't like being asked to "define love", but I love this definition of love:
  • Love is willing to wait instead of demanding "prove you care, now!"
  • Love keeps on being friendly to people who aren't friendly back.
  • Love doesn't hate the girl who goes out with the guy you like.
  • Love doesn't brag about your good grades or the points you scored in Friday night's game.
  • Love isn't stuck up. Love doesn't think you're better than others because your clothes are more expensive.
  • Love lets others have their turn talking. It never puts others down by acting like they don't count.
  • Love doesn't insist on getting all the credit or being one of the popular crowd.
  • Love doesn't lose its temper when a brother or sister hogs the phone or spends too much time in the bathroom.
  • Love doesn't hold grudges. It doesn't keep thinking over and over again about how someone hurt you.
  • Love doesn't think doing wrong is cool.
  • Love looks out for the interests of others.
  • Love keeps on trusting God even when the right choices you make don't turn out the way you want.
  • Love keeps on expecting the best.
  • Love doesn't give up just because something goes wrong because your feelings are hurt. God is in charge, so those who love just keep right on loving.
- 1 Cor 13:4-7 - an adaptation

I call this post: Lessons [BGmusic: This Fragile Breath by Todd Agnew]

I've learned a looot recently [i.e. the past four days]. Magsh-sharing moment muna ako. Ahem ahem ahem.

Lesson 1: Confrontations. Chances are, the person you're confronting will not respond the way you want them to. No matter how polite you are, or how good your intentions are.

Illustration:
1) my most recently "featured blog" [I messaged the owner on friendster and... let me just say that I was a little peeved at her response].
2) ______, who hates me. [The details are too sensitive to be blogged about. Just know that _____ hates me.]

Lesson 2: Pain. Nobody's ever brave enough to bear it. Nobody expects it to come, and when it comes, bearing it is all we can do.

Illustration:
1) In PGH, where I have my CWTS, there was a boy who was crying out in pain from his burns, crying out for someone - anyone - to stop the pain, crying out for his life to end. He was just ten years old. His screams seemed so loud to my ears, and all I could do was wish that I could bear some of his pain.
2) ______, who hates me.

Lesson 3: Tears. Masarap umiyak minsan.

Illustration:
1) Lucky made me cry last Tuesday. [Oo, nagsusumbong ako.]
2) Dahil related naman siya, ______, who hates me.

Lesson 4: Boys. They are disgusting. God, thank you for making me a girl.

Illustration:
1) Narra Residence Hall. The only all-boys [?] dorm on campus. We [some girls from the publicity committee of Ilang-ilang] went there to promote our upcoming open house week, and all they did was hoot, catcall, scream our names, poke fun, ask for our numbers, etc. I know that they're probably very intelligent and that they probably "didn't mean anything by it", but it's never good to have fun at other peoples' expense.

Lesson 5: Attend Corridor Meetings. Kahit na pagod na pagod ka. You'll never know when your whole corridor will gang up on you.

Illustration:
1) May fassion [oo fassion yan] show sa dorm ko sa open house. And guess what? [WHAT?] They voted to make me make landi-landi and model for it. Pwet ng kabayo. Buong high school life ko linalayuan ko yung mga yan, tapos gantoooo?! TRAITORS!

Lesson 6: Showers. I am a dormer, therefore I must take them earlier.

Illustration:
1) I was late for Futsal class. Threw on the first sweater I could get my hands on, which was really dirty. And I didn't even get to play. Thank goodness my English class was cancelled, and I got to go to the dorm and change.

Lesson 7: Forgiveness. Try it, it makes you lighter.

Illustration:
1) I forgive my latest featured blogger for being... difficult to deal with.
2) I forgive _____ for hating me.
3) I forgive JP's parents for letting him fall into the hot springs.
4) I forgive Lucky for provoking my tears in the MOLAVE CANTEEN.
5) I forgive my corridor-mates for their treachery.
6) I forgive the boys from Narra. Even if they are ugly rude, even if they smell funny.
7) I forgive my fellow dormers for taking a thousand years to take their showers.

      • [Actually, if you get my whole name, it means "Victorious Christian".]
    2. Your number and also
      • 3?
    3. Your number’s characteristics
      • expression, verbalization, socialization, the arts, the joy of living
      • [riiiiight]
    4. Your inner dream number
      • 1
    5. Meaning of your inner dream number
      • You dream of being a leader and one who is in charge. You want to be known for your courage, daring, and original ideas. You seek unconquered heights. People may get a first impression that you are very aggressive and sure of yourself.
      • [Errrr.... that is so... WRONG.]

Okay, Joy's is next. Basically, I just have to tell five secrets.
  1. A couple of people know about this already: I used to have an imaginary friend named Sandra. She was a fairy who visited me on beams of sunshine. I grew out of her when I was eleven years old I think. I don't like admitting to this because it's kind of freaky now that I look back.
  2. I've told this to a couple of people: A long time ago, someone asked me if I was anorexic. [No, I'm so not.] No-one knows this: I ended up getting even more insecure than I already was, getting really self-conscious about my weight and the clothes I wore. The bad thing about it was I didn't have anybody to really sympathize with me because big girls were "beautiful", but we stick-thin girls were "sick, bulimic wannabe models". I've gained some weight since then, but that's probably because I don't run around as much anymore. And don't worry, my weight issue only lasted for a couple of months, and after that I got really tired of thinking about it and couldn't care less. But sometimes, I still freak out when people tell me "you're so skinny, you need to eat more". PEOPLE, I EAT. Get over my weight.
  3. A few people know this: I actually liked the first guy who really "showed interest" in me [this was waaay waaaaaaaaaaaay back in ______]. Thank goodness I didn't encourage him, kasi ang pangit niya ngayon. Bwa ha ha ha.
  4. This is going to be the first time I'm going to say this: I daydream about death and dying [ooh alliteration]. I don't know why. It doesn't freak me out or anything, but gives me a lot of ideas to ponder on. I don't think I've told this to anyone before because people would get the wrong impression about me. No, I'm not a twisted psycho waiting to be unleashed, I'm Donya Quixote and I'm fabulous [?].
  5. [wincing] I used to think that being a "bitch" was cool. Gaaaah. Do not ask me to elaborate.

Now that I've lost all that's left of my dignity, I think I'm going to go to bed now. Good night, blogworld. Sorry for blogging out of boredom.

I call this post: I saw your face in a crowded place [BGmusic: Trains to Brazil by Guillemots]

I'm so happy I'm almost in tears. Sa wakas... sa wakas... naayos na connection namin dito sa dorm. I have so much to say yet so much to do - I need to finish writing two scripts, one for Kas1 and one for CCC, but all is well, I CAN DO THIS!

And since I'm dressed like a guy, I will talk about [ta-dah!] BEAUTY! Aaaand... I'll be using my female crushes as my examples. This is going to be fun. [Bwahaha.]

1. Miss Symmetry

My example: Jessica Alba

You all know who I'm talking about here. These are the girls with perfect faces, the ones who look stunning from every single angle imaginable, those who can go out in track suits and still look hot.

For girls like me who weren't blessed with symmetrical faces, these girls are so easy to hate. Most of us take comfort in the thought that they probably aren't as smart as we are. Then the likes of Georgina Wilson come along and "POP!" go our bubbles. Thank you very much for that.

But whatever. Personally, I don't like the Miss Symmetry look. Frankly, it bores me. [I don't even like Jessica Alba, but she was my favorite out of all the Miss Symmetry's I could think of.] Next, please.

In their playlists: Bootylicious, Don't Cha, Beautiful Stranger

Other perfect faces: Angelina Jolie, Elizabeth Hurley, Georgina Wilson, Beyonce

2. The Classic

My Example: Grace Kelly

Just... look at her. And try futilely not to marvel at that face. She doesn't even need to talk. If I were her, I wouldn't even bother talking. I wouldn't bother working, or going to school. I'd just... look beautiful.

Unlike the Miss Symmetry's, the Classics aren't hateable. Yes, they do make one feel very very inferior, but there's a sense of familiarity with these girls, because these are the princesses from our fairy tales, the ones we cheered on as they looked for their princes and got annoyed at for being so stupid and eating that apple/pricking that finger/not giving the prince her phone number before midnight.

Once upon a time, I told myself that I would grow up to be a Classic. But now, I've finally "grown up", and at the ripe old age of 19 [thank you to those of you who greeted me btw :) ], I figured out that elegance is one thing that just won't ever come naturally for me. Heck, I'm not that delusional.

In their playlists: She, The Way You Look Tonight, and of course, the works of Rachmaninoff

Other epitomes of elegance: Audrey Hepburn, Natalie Portman, Maggie Q, Julie Andrews, Nicole Kidman

3. Little Miss Adorable

My example: Audrey Tautou

These girls are, in one word, cute. They're not the kind of women you'd describe as drop-dead gorgeous, but almost everyone would agree that these girls are adorable indeed. Think bunny rabbits and rainbows.

In their playlists: Charmed Life, Daydream Believer

Other cuties: Selphie Tilmitt [from FF8], Rachael Leigh Cook, Drew Barrymore

4. [I love your] Funny Face aka Miss Debatable

My example: Claire Forlani

"Di ko siya type."
"I don't get it. Why do you think she's so pretty?"
"She's beautiful."
"She looks like a man/horse/rabbit/transvestite."
"I don't know, she kind of grows on you."
"I liked her right away. Why don't you see it?"
"SHE'S UGLY!"

Sounds familiar? Yeah, these girls get a lot of flak from people who think they're oh-so-very perfect, but I have to say that I love these girls the best [bakit kaya? ehem ehem]. I mean, if everyone looked like Barbie, the world would be a very boring place. Not that Barbie isn't beautiful, but these girls are just as beautiful in their own right. Ooh! Let me quote Gershwin.
I love your funny face
Your sunny, funny face.
For you're a cutie with more than beauty
You've got a lot of per-son-a-li-ty N.T.
You fill the air with smiles
For miles and miles and miles.
Though you're no Queen of Sheba,
For worlds I'd not replace
Your sunny, funny face.
In their playlists: Beautiful, Girl Next Door, Funny Face

Other debate topics: Jennifer Garner, the Mona Lisa, Zhang Ziyi

Where does DQ categorize herself? Hmmm... hindi talaga obvious... I wonderrr... [he he he]

But beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some of you may categorize the girls I mentioned into other groups.

But anyway, all this is just to prepare you for the moral of my story, which is...

I'M BEAUTIFUL! KAHIT NA NAPAKA-HAGGARD AKO AT MUKHA AKONG LALAKE NGAYOOOON!!! WOOHOO!

Walang aangal. Bangasan ko kayo diyan eh.

I call this post: Goodbye Blue Sky [BGmusic: nothing. Tulog na roommate ko.]

I would have posted earlier but it looks like I'm only able to access Blogger after 12MN. Which is very good for me [huhu], since I haven't been able to get a decent night's sleep in three days. But I'm not complaining [oh, no]. I can't sleep now anyway since I just took a shower.

Todaynight, allow me to act like the teenager that I am. I will blog about *sigh* crushes, in celebration of my crush taking notice of me and actually talking to me awhile ago in my futsal class. I think he thought that I was giving him the cold shoulder: after he talked to me, all I could say was "okay", because I really didn't know what else to say. Wonderful.

[Start internal dialogue] Siguro akala niya suplada ako. Siguro iniisip niya, "Sayang, cute sana siya, kaso lang masungit." WAAAAAHHHHH! WHY MUST I BE SO SOCIALLY INEPT?! WHYYY?!?! [/End internal dialogue]

Just to let you know, I haven't had a good serious crush since I was in high school, where I was obsessed with this one guy we shall "hide" [kasi alam naman ng buong class ko nung high school yung crush ko] under the code name Pencil Head, kasi flat top yung hair niya nung second year - mukhang unsharpened pencil. Because of his hairdo, I thought I was the only girl who would take notice of him. But then fourth year came, and he got his hair cut into a normal hairstyle. Girls took notice. They didn't know that I saw him first. And off went Pencil Head with his first girlfriend. And I broke the doll I made in his likeness [yes, I made an actual Pencil Head doll to "accompany me" during classes - it sounds scary now, and yes, now that I think back, my behavior was very frightening].

I used to follow him around high school, picking up the plastic cup he drank from, holding it to my chest, and sighing. But I always knew that we couldn't be together - I didn't like his last name. Hehe.

Oh, and he actually found out that I had a crush on him. Not [only] because I was following him around like a puppy dog oh-so-subtly, but because someone *ehem ehem* decided that it was a great idea to just tell him [actually she yelled the sentence] about my obsession. So a lot of people found out. [Duh.] Oh, and the horrible thing is, I think one of his friends had a crush on me. So that was a little awkward. Moral of the story: Don't tell your whole class who you're obsessed with.

Anyway, my crushes right now are nowhere near as intense as the obsession I had with Pencil Head. Now I just admire them from afar [parang stalker lang eh], and during the rare instances when they give me attention, I act like the fool that I am. Dalawa lang sila ngayon.
  1. My.Hero - Yes, that is his codename, just because I said so. I won't tell you guys how I met this person, because [certain people] who know him read my blog and may very well blab. Anyway, he's no pretty boy [direct to the point talaga eh]. And that's a pattern I've been seeing in my recent crushes - they aren't pretty boys anymore. I'm over that stage. Now I'm beginning to like people for "who they are". [And if you believe that, you'll believe anything. IT'S TRUE!]
Why I like him: He's so... nice. And I didn't expect him to be that nice, since he really doesn't look like the type. He's musical, artistic, and most of all... weird. [Weird is good for DQ.] Oh, and I think I'm the only girl who has a crush on him. Which is good. I hate sharing inspiration.

    DQ's Smooth Moves in Action:
    DQ: Bye, _____!
    My.Hero: Bye! Ingat ka, ha!
DQ: [starts hyperventilating, stops walking, stands panicking for around 5 seconds] ...IkawdinbyeseeyouaroundIgottago! [Runs away]
  2. Classmate.ko.sa.Futsal - Yan ang codename niya, dahil classmate ko siya sa futsal [huwaw!]. Pretty boy siya, compared to my most recent crushes [like I said above, I'm over the pretty boy stage]. We introduced ourselves not in class, but in his org's tambayan in CBA [long story]. We acknowledge each other in class, but we don't really talk. [And awhile ago he tried to strike up a conversation and... I blew it... wonderful, just terrific.]
Why I like him: He's also... nice. And funny. [I'm sorry, when I'm talking about my crushes, "nice" is the only adjective I can come up with. If I say any more I start gushing and it gets really sickening. You don't want to meet me during one of my gushing sessions, it's a little too much for those with weak stomachs.]

DQ's Smooth Moves in Action: Yung kanina. T_T
Anyway, what is my point in all of this?

Um... I don't know.

Let's find one. Ah yes. I haven't been obsessed over a guy since high school because I have stopped putting guys on pedestals. [They don't belong there, I do. Kidding.] And the crushes I have now are sorry excuses for crushes, because they're more like... guys I really want to be friends with. Not guys I want to get for my boyfriend [although that has never really been my goal]. I feel more drawn to certain boys not because of the way they look, but because I feel an affinity with some of them, almost like sensing a kindred spirit somewhere in there.

For example, with My.Hero... he's different. Different in the same way that I am different. [And if that sentence makes sense to you... you are also different in the same way that I am different - congratulations.] And Classmate.ko.sa.Futsal and I have the same sense of humor, plus he's no snob, which is refreshing from a guy like him.

Guys like them are [sometimes] the reason why I get out of bed and go to school. So because of my crushes, my funding from the Filipino taxpayer isn't all in vain. Mabuhay ang aking mga inspirasyon.

Pahabol: To those people who seem very excited for me to turn 19... I'm obviously not as excited as you [me hates birthdays]. And Friday pa yung birthday ko! I'm still 18! STILL 18!!! STOP GREETING ME! You guys are freaking me out! [Danger Ahead: nervous breakdown.]

I call this post: Hindi po ako artista [BGmusic: the hum of my roommate's PC]

When people get compared to celebrities, there are three possible reactions:
  1. Delight - "Wow! Mukha akong artista! Yehey! Ang saya!"
  2. [Not-so-mild] Annoyance - "Say that one more time and I swear I will do everything in my power to make you [PICK: unable to have any children / run crying to your momma / wish you were never born / take that back]."
  3. The Blank Face - :-|
I'm more of a number 2 kind of person. I get compared to celebrities. Too much. Take note that the celebrities I get compared to are usually irritating, and because of the neverending "Kamukha mo si ____"s, they have turned into a bane[s] of my very existence. Want a sure-fire way to get on my nerves? Just compare me to the right wrong celebrities. Easy-peasy lemon-squeezy.

When I was brought into this world, I didn't resemble anyone besides my parents, and maybe a few relatives. The first time I was compared to ______, I was fourteen years old and didn't even know who she was. Now that I'm at the ripe old age of eighteen, apparentely I look like _______, or ______, or even ______! And the funny thing is, I don't see [or yes, maybe just refuse to see] the resemblance. To those of you who don't know what I look like, just think of the Asian Barbie and you're there. [Yes, I'm kidding.]

Who are those "_____"s? I'm not comfortable with saying their names [because whenever I hear their names I wince - probably some kind of reflex I developed], so here's their pictures. I edited it a little, of course. Couldn't help myself.

Bwahahahahahaha. That felt good.

To _____, _____, and ______: I don't look like you. You may look like me, and if you happen to, you're very lucky girls, but don't take the credit. It's annoying. Thank you.

*Bow*

Pahabol: There is a celebrity I love being compared to: Maggie Q. She's so hawt. When I grow up, I want to look just like her. [If you know any good, affordable plastic surgeons, you know where to reach me.]

I call this post: Invisible [BGmusic: Soul Meets Body by Death Cab for Cutie]

I'm sick, and I'm going to attend only one of my classes. I wasn't planning on being absent; I must have slept through my alarm, because when I woke up it was already 9AM. I was going to take a quick shower and still go to my Eng11 and Kas1 classes, but - freaking heck - my head hurt, my stomach hurt, my nose was running, I was sneezing every two seconds, and coughing like there was no tomorrow. Plus, last night I had a fever. [Just trying to prove that I didn't skip my classes for just nothing.]

hap.pi.ness [hap-ee-nes] Pronunciation Key
1.the quality or state of being happy.
2.good fortune; pleasure; contentment; joy
Someone once said that stupidity, selfishness, and good health are three requirements for happiness, and although I don't totally agree with the statement, I have to admit that stupidity does play a huge role in my seratonin generation. Okay, let me rephrase that. Not stupidity, but total abandon of pretentions [what a way to rephrase - hehe].

Happiness. Who truly understands how the emotion really works? They teach in your Biology classes that it's just seratonin. In my case, it's crayons and sunshine. Ann gave me a box of 64 crayons [the one with the built-in sharpener] for my barkada's little exchange gift thing. I don't know what it is about crayons that makes me happy. Perhaps its sheer simplicity does the trick.

My happiness flourishes with the little things - having a classmate I hardly know wave at me in the hallway, having my professor remember my name, drinking a cup of really good coffee [outside Starbucks - the place makes me feel guilty, talk about social injustice], having a great conversation, dancing alone in my room [or just in my head], etc. Thank goodness for the little things. Without them, our lives would probably just revolve around the crises we are faced with day after day after day.

So, here's to the little things. Here's to the smell of freshly-cut grass, to kittens, to puppies, to bubble wrap, to chocolate-flavored toothpaste, to cute panties, to bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens.

*sneeze*

And now, for some "interactive fun":

What's your simple pleasure?

I call this post: Falalalalalalalala [BGmusic: the sound of an approaching typhoon changing its mind and choosing another course]

It's advent at last, and I can finally play my Christmas carols without annoying myself [in my opinion, Christmas carols only belong during the Yuletide season, meaning mid-November - at the earliest - until January 6, but maybe that's just me.]

Not feeling very merry this Christmas?

I've felt that way as well. We all expect Christmas to feel the same as it used to when we were kids, but as we all know, it doesn't work out that way. Now, I don't have trouble sleeping before Christmas Day in painful anticipation, I don't go on my annual Search for the Gifts' Hideout, I don't jump at the sight of the first presents under the tree, and I don't shake packages in [often futile] attempts to try and guess what's inside.

It was saddening, at first, but after a while I realized that this change was a good thing, because it meant that I was finally able to see past all the buy-this-buy-that trash the media ceaselessly bombards us with from September to Christmas. Now I could focus on the real meaning of Christmas - which is, as we all know, the birth of Santa Claus Jesus.

Yeah, we've all heard the story before. He was born in a stable; he slept in a trough; he had three Oriental men gift him with gold, frankincense and myrhh; angels sang; shepherds shepherded; blah blah blah, you get the picture. It gets kind of boring after hearing it over and over again every single year. Basically, the story is deadened by the repetition, and as a result, we bring in Santa Claus and his rocket-powered reindeer to make the season more exciting.

But eventually, Santa Claus begins to bore us as well. How could he keep us captivated when he's not real?

But Jesus' birth was real [contact me if you think otherwise - we'll talk]. Why doesn't that keep most of us captivated?

Maybe we see him as yet another fictional character some very bored people made up 2000 years ago [so they could be tortured and painfully murdered by the Romans because of their belief]. Maybe we just know about him, but he's not real to us anymore. Santa Claus is more real than Jesus - we see more of the former on the latter's birthday.

Maybe we just don't understand what the implications of his birth means. His birth fulfilled prophecies from the Torah concerning his lineage and manner of birth [later on he continued to fulfill over 300 - if I recall correctly - prophecies]. Why is this so important?

Basically he was born to die. Not without reason - it was all for us. It should have been us on that cross, but he - although pure and blameless - took our punishment. Because of him, we are freed from our chains. And I hope you agree that that's more than enough reason to be merry.

:)

I call this post: Oh where oh where can my Gilbert be? [BGmusic: She Moves in Her Own Way by The Kooks]

Note: To my male readers... gushing about guys ahead. You have been forewarned.

I was going to post yet another not-so-comprehensive study, but the song playing right now inspired me to write about something completely different.

Anyway, who the heck is Gilbert, I hear you ask? My uncle's name is Gilbert. Haha, but he's not who I'm talking about.

If any of you have read the Anne of Green Gables books, you'd know who I was talking about. Basically, Gilbert is Anne's special someone, and... basta! [Gilbert affects me so much, he makes my vocabulary shrink.] Gah, every time I think about Anne's Gilbert, I suddenly turn into this illiterate... little... twitterpated... Bambi-eyed... turd. All I can say is, kahit na hindi ako masyado nagagandahan sa pangalan na Gilbert, whenever I think of Anne's Gilbert, I'm like, "Haaaaay...." In other words, Gilbert sweeps me off my feet.

Why the heck am I blabbing about this, I hear you ask? Well, since so many of you seemed to be interested in my love life. And since I can't blog about that right now, here's the guys I love. Pardon me, fictional guys I love.

So here they are, the fictional [how I wish they weren't] guys I love and why I love them:

5. Zell Dincht

"Booya!" [He really has a way with words, my Zell does.]

The only reason why Zell's number five is because he doesn't appear much in the game [Final Fantasy VIII, for those of you who don't play], and because of that, I don't know much about this guy.

He's like that boy you just like staring at, knowing that you will never know more about him. I know what he likes to do in his spare time, and what he likes eating, but me and Zell haven't really communicated, so I don't know what makes him tick.

But he's funny, and he doesn't even try to be. Maybe more than a little hot-tempered, but he can work on that.

Squaresoft should make a Final Fantasy VIII-2. And Zell should be the main character. There will be a new character. Zell will fall in love with her and we'll see his "other side". The girl will go by the name of Donya Quixote, warrior princess.

4. Westley

"As you wish."

[Of A Princess Bride. I watched the movie just last week. Apparentely, there's also a book, but the movie was good enough for me.]

He grew up with Buttercup, was tormented by her, and instead of hating her, he fell in love for her. Every time he said, "As you wish" [and he always said that and did what she asked, uto-uto kasi], he was actually saying, "I love you." *insert squeal here*

He goes off and promises to Buttercup that he'll be back. But upon receiving news of his death, Buttercup gets engaged to Prince... whatshisface.

However... *tan-tan-nannn!!!* he's not dead!

Buttercup gets kidnapped, and who rescues her? Who? Not her fiance, but this mysterious masked man. [We all know who he is, of course.] He follows her. He scales cliff walls. He duels with giants and Spanish swordfighters. He endures torture and paralysis all for Buttercup.

I like him because I love the idea of being "rescued" and "protected". While, according to Cornershop, every man needs a bosom to lean on, all we girls need is a knight in shining armor.

3. Mr. (Fitzwilliam) Darcy

"You have bewitched me body and soul and I love, I love, I love you."

[Of Pride and Prejudice. I haven't read the book. I'm not a classic-friendly person. I tried reading Great Expectations and gave up somewhere in Chapter Five I think.]

Anyway, I watched the movie... and [surprise, surprise] discovered that indeed, Mr. Darcy is so... mmph. I can't find the right word to describe him. He's so complex - you think you know him but you don't. Andami niyang layers. [Like ogres! Like onions! ...Okay never mind.] He's cool and annoyingly confident, but whenever Lizzie's around, he can barely function [can anyone say adorable?]. And my gosh, the things he did for her... *insert girly squeal here*

Pahabol: The actor who plays him in the 2005 movie was pretty cute. Disgusting hair, but that's the 1800's for you. Oh, and Colin Firth was GREAT as Mr. Darcy as well.

2. Linus Larrabee

Linus: "How do you say: My sister has a yellow pencil?"
Sabrina: "Ma soeur a une crayon jaune."
Linus: "How do you say: My brother has a lovely girl?"
Sabrina: [silence]
Linus: "How do you say: I wish I were my brother?"

"What?! Humphrey Bogart? You have got to be kidding." - someone told me this when she found out that I had a crush on his character in Sabrina. Yeah, he's not my idea of a hot actor, but the character he plays is... almost perfect.

I'm afraid that I'm going to ruin the story for those of you who haven't watched Sabrina. Basically, Sabrina has been in love with David Larrabee all her life [and he falls in love with her after her "makeover"]. The problem is, David's engaged. Not just to anyone, but to the heiress of the sugar plantation empire. And Linus needs a lot of sugar for his new product.

So Linus woos Sabrina, to take her out of the picture. But he falls in love. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Note: I prefer the older version to the Harrison Ford movie. Harrison Ford disturbs me, I don't know why. Probably because he breathes heavily. During the quiet scenes in the movie, you can hear him inhaling... exhaling... inhaling... basta, disturbing siya.

1. Gilbert Blythe

"I've loved you ever since that day you broke your slate over my head in school."

It's Gilbert!

Aaaaah!

I haven't watched the series [where the picture's from], but I read the books.

And...

Oh, just read the books. If you don't want to buy copies, you can read it online.

That's it. Sorry about that. I just had to find an outlet for all the yucky gooey mush.

Okay, here's some "interactive fun":

Who are the [top five, if you like] fictional characters you lurve, and huway?

I call this post: The Peoples of the University of the Philippines: A Not-So-Comprehensive Study [BGmusic: The Freshmen - Verve Pipe]

Post idea from Jigs.

It's very easy to assume that UP has the most varied population that a single university can offer. Everyone in UP has been told that the university could be looked upon as a michrochosm of the Philippines - we have students hailing from all social brackets, from different backgrounds, with different ideas, interests, and capabilities. But since I'm no Anthropology major, I can only simplify the students of UP into five major food people groups, as inspired by this [pretty annoying] little song by Kamikazee.

Warning: Stereotyping ahead. Ang mao-offend, corny.

What's Your High?

Brainy High!Umaapaw sa talino? DO THE BRAINY HIGH!

Natural Habitat: College of Science, College of Engineering, College of Business Administration [probably BAA majors], the libraries

[Some people may say that] if you're from UP, you probably have something of substance in that cavity you have between your ears. But there also exists a... special breed of students who seem to ace each and every single one of their exams. Usually these are the high school valedictorians, or graduates from the Philippine Science High Schools. These are the kind of people who don't attend a single Math17 class yet manage to get perfect scores on their exams. [These are also the kind of people who make us mere mortals feel horribly insufficient.]

The worst subgroup of this group would be the discussion monopolizers. Yung hindi naman tinatanong, nagrerecite pa rin [tapos walang kwenta pa yung sinasabi, gusto lang magka-grade sa recitation]. Kulang nalang bigyan mo sila ng sarili nilang mics.

Sosy HighKung mayaman si papa, DO THE SOSY HIGH!

Natural Habitat: School of Economics, College of Business Administration

UP doesn't have as many specimens from this group as other schools [say, LaSalle or Ateneo], but we do have a lot of sosy people, aka the Conio Crew. The King of Chocolates Rex himself has noticed that people from Econ and BA are "misconstrued or stereotyped as Conio". Well, there's no miscontruing happening here, because it's 100% true. Okay, 80% true. Somekinda medyo kakaiba ang language ng mga ganito, and while the rest of the student population go around by the Toki and Ikot jeeps, these people drive around in their cars.

Oh, and a lot of students look at the people from these colleges with contempt because... well... sinasabi raw nila na wala kaming paninindigan. Meaning, we'd rather not join in those anti-Gloria rallies, atbp. I think that it's not because we don't have any principles, it's because we have different principles, because we're taught how to differentiate between our own opinions and what is actually happening. But that's just my opinion. There are some people I know who don't give a flying fudge about what the heck is happening "out there".

Note:
  • Don't misunderstand the SE and CBA people to be a bunch of self-obsessed elitists, because a lot of us are actually quite nice.
  • Hindi po ako conio. I speak Taglish but not conio Taglish. And I wouldn't classify myself as sosy.

Pag mahilig ka sa sports, DO THE MVP HIGH!

Natural Habitat: College of Human Kinetics, CHK Arcade / International Center, kicking a ball around / throwing a frisbee / playing baseball at the Sunken Garden or the Track Oval, tennis courts, running laps around the Acad Oval

Mga varsity [duh]. I have nothing else to say. Oh yeah, that thing people say about people from CHK not being too smart is completely false. May mga kilala akong taga-CHK na parang halimaw pagdating sa acads.

Kung cool ka at astig, DO THE REBEL HIGH!

Natural Habitat: College of Social Science and Philosophy, College of Arts and Letters, College of Fine Arts, College of Music, College of Education, College of Mass Communications, College of Science, fraternity and sorority tambayans [wow andami talaga]

UP students are notorious for being rebellious, and this is because we're told that as the privileged Iskos and Iskas, it is our duty to stand up for the rights of the people. Which is true, and I really respect those people who actually give their all to make our country a better place to live in. But the sad thing is, I've met so many people who join the activists not because of what they believe in, but because they just want to piss off their parents or simply feel what it's like to rebel. Some of them have forgotten their limits (an example here).

But there are also the rebels who use their abilities such as films, art, and music to show what they believe in. For instance, there was a professor in the CFA who, in an anti-Bush protest, shaved her hair "down there" in front of an audience [may screen naman, syempre]. Um... tapos... okay. Wala na akong masabi.

Anyway, these people are usually very easy to spot - look for anyone whose clothes scream "Look at me, I'm an artist!", and you're there.

Pag solid sa bait, DO THE NICE GUY HIGH!

Natural Habitat: Everywhere, but the nicest people I know are from Campus Crusade for Christ, so look for our tambayan at Vinzon's.

Everyone in UP is nice. Kahit yung mga frat boys, or yung mga nakakatakot na tao sa FA, or yung mga elitista sa Econ. Usually all you have to do is get look past the scary masks people put on to throw you off to get to the "nice layer". Maybe that's just how I look at people, but I really believe that. Okay, et me rephrase that: Everyone can be nice. Period.

Pahabol:
  • Marami kayong interested sa love life ko ha... [mga tsismoso/a!] hehehe... Don't worry... bullet day... I will write about that. Right now I'm not... er... ready to let the world know my [very few] experiences.
  • If I were to classify myself according to the above groups, I wouldn't know where to place myself. Like I said, these are just stereotypes.
  • Kung taga-UP ka, or kahit hindi... ano kaya ang grupo mo?
